Commissioned by Alchemise Theatre as part of the Long Covid Superheroes drama and comics project, this comic is based on the lived experiences of young people with Long Covid who participated in the project. Through the language of video games, it transforms the everyday realities of Long Covid into an adventure, celebrating the resilience of these young heroes and the creativity, humour, and optimism with which they navigate each day.

This comic draws inspiration from Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 1961 novella No One Writes to the Colonel, which delves into the historical period of banana colonization in Colombia. Throughout the novella, ‘banana fever’ serves as a potent symbol, alluding to the tragic massacre of banana workers—a dark chapter in Colombian history. To enhance narrative flow, the concertina format for this comic, allowing readers to experience the story’s progression seamlessly.
